“Never once did it occur to me to check IDs, or foreskins, at the door. Am I supposed to be doing that?”
Tel Aviv, March 19 – A new poll has brought to light a shocking statistic: despite countless social media posts excoriating the Jewish State for refusing to admit gentiles into underground air raid shelters, almost the entire Jewish population of the country remains in complete ignorance of any policy blocking goyim from those safe spaces, and have made no effort to keep them out.
The survey, conducted by the Institute for Things That Obviously Aren’t Happening, found that 99% of Israeli respondents expressed genuine bafflement when asked about the alleged “Jews-Only” shelter directive. “I’ve been running into the shelter with my Filipino neighbors for years during sirens,” said Tel Aviv resident Shlomo Cohen, 42, who participated in the poll. “We squeeze in together, share snacks, argue about politics — never once did it occur to me to check IDs, or foreskins, at the door. Am I supposed to be doing that?”
Experts on anti-Israel discourse rushed to explain the discrepancy. “The law is clearly there,” insisted Dr. Fatima Al-Quds, a visiting fellow at the Center for Imagined Grievances. “It’s just so deeply embedded in Zionist DNA that Israelis don’t even notice they’re enforcing it. It’s like breathing — automatic, invisible, and genocidal.” When pressed for the specific statute number or Knesset vote date, Dr. Al-Quds referred reporters to “various viral videos and that one Al Jazeera article everyone shares,” at least three of which turned out to feature made-up quotes from the Talmud, not Knesset legislation.
Social media has blazed with “eyewitness accounts” of the supposed exclusion. One widely circulated clip shows a group of Thai agricultural workers politely waiting outside a shelter in northern Israel while locals file in. Captions in multiple languages declare, “Only Jews allowed — proof of apartheid!” Closer inspection revealed that everyone was waiting for slow-moving senior citizen to exit the stairwell. Still, the optics were damning enough for several blue-check accounts to label it “systemic ethnic cleansing via reinforced concrete.”
Israeli civil defense officials, clearly out of touch, insist public shelters operate on a first-come, first-served basis for anyone in the vicinity when the Red Alert sounds — no ethnicity test required. “We’ve had Druze, Christians, Muslims, tourists, the occasional lost delivery guy,” explained Home Front Command spokesperson Lt. Col. Miriam Levy. “The only people we’ve ever turned away are those trying to bring in oversized strollers or political signs. Or guitars.” Such statements only fuel the outrage, as critics argue they prove Israelis are in denial about their own bigotry.
The poll’s remaining 1% — those vaguely aware of the “nonexistent law” — attributed their knowledge to “reading too much Twitter.” One respondent, an elderly Holocaust survivor from Haifa, confessed, “I thought it was satire at first. Then I realized people actually believe it. Took me back. I felt the 1930s all over again.”
Meanwhile, in mixed cities such as Lod and Acre, residents report business as usual: sirens blare, families of all backgrounds pile into the nearest protected space, and life resumes once the all-clear sounds. “If there’s a secret Jews-only policy,” said Ahmed Mansour, a Jaffa shop owner, “someone forgot to tell the Jews. Or me.”
The poll carries a margin of error of ±0.5%, because even in libel, precision matters. At press time, the Institute was preparing a follow-up survey: “Do Israelis secretly know the earth is flat but pretend otherwise to oppress Palestinians?” Preliminary results suggest suspicious cluelessness on that front as well.
