J-Street To Offer Conversion So Antisemites Can Libel Israel ‘As A Jew…’

Forging Identity for Goyim to Legitimize Explicit Antisemitic Fulminations (FIGLEAF).

Washington, January 18 – An American organization that labels itself “pro-Israel, pro-Peace” but uniformly endorses candidates and policies who seek Israel’s weakening or outright dissolution as a Jewish state announced today that it will launch a program for non-Jews who hate the nation-state of the Jews to undergo the process necessary to become Jews, to lend “insider” credibility to their slander of that Jewish state.

J Street president Jeremy Ben-Ami stated in a press release Thursday that his organization, which was founded to counter the mainstream, bipartisan-consensus group the America-Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), plans a conversion-to-Judaism training regimen for anyone interested in cushioning themselves against antisemitism accusations that stem from their vociferous opposition to Jewish nationhood and self-determination.

“Critics of the destructive policies of the Netanyahu government and any other government of Israel face unfair characterization of their remarks and attitudes as antisemitic,” lamented Ben-Ami. “The knee-jerk labeling as ‘antisemitic’ whenever anyone calls Israeli self-defense genocide; gives legitimacy to violence against Jewish ‘settlers,’ conveniently including all Israelis in the category; holds Israel to standards that they do to no other country; or ignore far worse human rights situations to focus on real or imagined Israeli crimes – that is what our program will counter.”

The one-year curriculum will carry the name Forging Identity for Goyim to Legitimize Explicit Antisemitic Fulminations (FIGLEAF), according to documents linked to in the press release. Applicants will be asked to demonstrate their antisemitic bona fides, and explain, in essays and interviews, their vision for leveraging their own newfound Jewish identity to undermine Jews as a people, Jewish institutions, or Jewish communal and individual identity.

J Street officials acknowledged the risk inherent in the FIGLEAF program. “We do realize we’re limiting our pool of candidates to those willing to publicly declare themselves Jewish,” stated organization programming director Gaius Hamishi. “We do know there’s no shortage of online activists who pretend to be Jewish so they can say all sorts of things about Jews and Israel. How that will translate into people willing to do so in real life, to have others know them as Jews, remains to be seen. But we only need a dedicated few out of the thousands of them on social media, so the odds are in our favor of finding the handful of activists we can train as Jews.”

The organization declined to provide more specific details of its conversion program. Such regimes generally take years and attempt to filter out candidates unlikely to remain committed to living the rest of their lives as Jews, by emphasizing the difficulties adhering to Jewish practice, the discrimination they may face, the sacrifices necessary to live a Jewish life and participate in Jewish community life, and other daunting information. J Street representatives did not indicate whether their FIGLEAF program will incorporate any of those elements.

They did, however, disclose that the program will heavily curate its content, lets participants come away with positive ideas about Jews and Israel.
