New Superweapon: Brain Implant With Loop Of Teen K-Pop Fans Singing Off-Key, Wrong Lyrics

The system will also interest law enforcement agencies.

Tel Aviv, December 4 – Israeli Military Industries announced today that it has added a significant asset to the country’s arsenal as of this week: an advanced system that installs in the target’s head the recurring sound of non-Koreans trying to sing Korean popular music and failing in the most cacophonous fashion.

The Brain Tune Sequencer, or BTS, implants in the enemy’s brain the sound of tween and teenage fans of the K-Pop genre absolutely butchering their favorite songs, and then repeats the experience ad infinitum, disclosed Psy Opps, a spokesman for IMI.

“This device, or set of devices, really, has been in development for decades,” he revealed. “The specific selections to be implanted in the enemy brain, assuming he has one, are not crucial to the integrity of the system. When IMI began development in the 1990’s, the experimental prototypes used recordings of beginner violin students practicing their craft, and that option remains available.”

Industry analysts see a wide variety of applications for the new systems, and a significant potential market. “It’s bloodless, so that appeals to certain quarters,” acknowledged Strey Kidd of the Hudson Institute think tank. “The usual suspects will still find ways to redefine the Laws of Armed Conflict and International Human Rights Law to vilify Israel for it, and call it genocide somehow. But sane militaries will definitely be looking for a way to reduce expenditure of medical resources on medical care for prisoners, for one thing.”

Kidd added that BTS will also interest law enforcement agencies. “Imagine crowd control or riot suppression that doesn’t cause physical injury,” he explained. “I can see some civil liberties types who might have concerns about cruel or unusual punishment, though.”

Redacted test data released to the media showed a ninety-five percent effectiveness rate when used according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. The recommended range for the hand-held version of BTS stands at up to one hundred meters, though accuracy decreases beyond sixty meters. A larger, vehicle-mounted system boasts anywhere from two hundred to four hundred meters effective range, and an airborne system is in development, according to IMI data, which can target either enemy pilots in the air or personnel on the ground. One promising avenue of experimentation involves a “bomb” or “missile” that deploys the BTS ear worm over a wide area, for delivery by fighter jet, helicopter, drone, cruise missile, or even artillery shell.

“We are prepared for any scenario,” stated Opps, putting the emphasis on the the “i” in “scenario.”
