Assurances that justice has been served and that no credible evidence exists to prosecute anyone else have prompted a sense of betrayal on the woke right.
Jerusalem, July 21 – Right-wing podcasters and “citizen journalists” continued today to criticize the Crown for what they claim is inaction or insufficient alacrity in investigating and prosecuting a royal sex scandal that occurred during the previous administration, but that, they also allege, involves a cover-up to protect officials close to the throne.
Despite repeated assurances by both King Solomon and representatives of his father David’s reign that all those involved in the Bathsheba Incident have already come to light and faced justice, the influencers insist that their unanswered questions point to a broader and more disturbing phenomenon implicating not just the late King David and his military chief Yoav, but what must be a larger number of high-ranking Israelites involved in trafficking, prostitution, exploitation, and other egregious offenses, and that there exists some sort of master list of the ring’s clientele subject to blackmail.
King David had embroiled himself in scandal by pursuing the wife of one of his soldiers, and conspired with Yoav to put the man in a fatal position on the battlefield. Commentators and prophets chastised David for his abuse of power – as directed at both Bathsheba and her erstwhile husband Uriah – and a child later born to David and his new queen Bathsheba died as an infant. The prophet also sentenced David to familial and political upheaval that led to a rebellion from within, which occurred soon afterwards when his estranged son Absalom started a civil war that came dangerously close to deposing his father.
General Yoav, meanwhile, ended up picking the wrong faction in a succession struggle taking shape as David reached his twilight, and was putto death.
Nevertheless, woke-right podcasters – who initially insisted the scandal was a left-wing smear job – now stewed themselves in an uproar, having convinced themselves – with no small condoning of the rhetoric in royal circles, to keep the base energized – that more than David and Yoav were implicated but that powerful forces are extorting them into silence. Now Solomonic assurances that justice has been served and that no credible evidence exists to prosecute anyone else have instead prompted a sense of betrayal on the woke right, whose emotional investment in Bathshebagate and the premise that evil forces are everywhere engaged in facilitating the worst depravities on the part of the political and cultural elite.
One theme persisted among the disparate characters demanding release of all the information. “It’s got to be the Jews,” they agreed.
