Israel To Allow Only Women On Temple Mount; ‘Throw Rocks Like Girls’

If the program proves successful, they and the IDF will consider expanding it to other areas prone to Arab violence.

girl throwingJerusalem, July 25 – Police will restrict entry to the compound housing a disputed holy site following outbreaks of violence, permitting only females to enter the area because if they end up rioting and throwing rocks, they will do so like girls, posing less of a danger to law enforcement personnel and other visitors.

A spokesman for the Jerusalem District of the Israel Police announced Wednesday that for the foreseeable future, only women and girls will be allowed to enter the Temple Mount to visit Al Aqsa Mosque and associated facilities. The spokesman stressed that police will make some exceptions for the elderly and infirm, with emphasis on permitting entry only to people who have never learned to throw, and who therefore, in case violence breaks out, will present less of a threat.

Deputy District Commissioner Ofer Pitsek made the announcement at one of the main entrances to the compound Wednesday morning, and posted a notice to its effect on all gates to the Temple Mount where Muslim worshipers enter. Officers stationed at the Mughrabi Gate, where non-Muslims gain entry, will continue to enforce rules that bar Jewish veneration acts or artifacts.

“We anticipate that this new, experimental policy will bring dividends in terms of quiet and safety,” stated Pitsek. “Security personnel will be better able to respond to developing violence, since anyone throwing rocks or other projectiles will throw like a girl, and the thrown objects will not reach as far as they might had a man thrown them. They will also be thrown with less force, presenting less of a danger to life and limb of the security personnel and of others present when such an incident occurs.”

Police officials added that if the program proves successful, they and the IDF will consider expanding it to other areas prone to Arab violence, such as parts of Judea and Samaria where frequent friction occurs between Palestinians and Israeli soldiers or citizens. “This has real promise,” predicted Minister of Internal Security Gilad Erdan. “If we can restrict the use of rocks, bricks, and Molotov cocktails to females only, that will help significantly reduce the risk to Israeli soldiers, motorists, and passers-by on a very tangible, everyday level.”

Officials have yet to remark publicly on the possibility that the females in question will use devices such as slingshots, which do not depend on the user having learned to throw properly in order to project its contents a significant distance at dangerous speed.
